How it is counted

The same model as the payout fees calculator.

Payment
One USD 1,000 payment from a client abroad, received by a freelancer living in Georgia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Uzbekistan or the EU.
Routes
Wise, Deel, Upwork, USDC on Base sold on Kraken, Payoneer and PayPal, each the way a freelancer usually takes the money out to a local bank or card.
Three parts
The fee to receive, then the fee to withdraw on what is left, then how far below the official rate the money is converted. The rest is multiplied by the official rate.
Fees
Only numbers each company publishes on its own pricing or help pages, read on the day the edition names. The sources are listed below.
Rates
The official rate of the National Bank of Georgia for lari, and its cross rates for tenge, dram, sum and euro, from the Navorina rate pages.
At most
A part a company does not publish counts as zero, and a published range counts its low end. Either way the figure says "at most", because the real amount can only be lower.
Upwork
The service fee is set per contract between 0 and 15%. The index counts 10%.
Ranking
Routes that publish every fee rank first, then "at most" routes, so a hidden markup never tops a column.
Not counted
Tax, fees your own bank charges to receive, yearly account fees (Payoneer charges USD 29.95 a year under USD 6,000 received), and how fast the money arrives.
Editions
A new edition each month with the fees checked again and that day's rates. Each edition keeps its own page and files, so a figure you cite does not change under you.

Questions

What is the cheapest way to get paid from a US client in Georgia?

Of the routes that publish every fee, Wise keeps the most of a USD 1,000 payment in lari in the current edition. Deel may keep more, but it does not publish the markup it adds when it converts. The table above has every route with its figure and sources.

Why do some figures say "at most"?

Deel, Upwork, Payoneer and banks convert at their own rate or show their fee only after you sign in. We count what is not published as zero and say "at most", because the real amount can only be lower.

How often is the index updated?

Once a month. Each edition has its own page, JSON and CSV that stay as they were published, so older figures can be checked against their sources.

Can I reuse the numbers?

Yes, under CC BY 4.0 with a link to the edition you used. The "How to cite" line gives the wording. The fees are each company's published prices and the rates are the National Bank of Georgia's.

Is Navorina one of the routes?

No. Navorina does not move or hold money. It puts your bank details or a USDC address on the invoice and shows what arrived, so you can see what each route really cost you.
